  1. Instal QTP 10.00 trail version and install it. Make sure you select the addins you want during the install.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\HP\QuickTest Professional\bin (in my pc where QTP is)
  3. Find QTPro.exe
  4. Make a copy in case if you go wrong you can use later.
  5. Open QTPro.exe with UltraEdit or HexEditor
  6. Go to Offset/location 0013C8A0 or 0013ca8a0(when you use CTRL+F use small case to find)
  7. Where you’ll see the hex-value “0F85C0000000” Change it to “909090909090”
  8. Now launch QTP. If some addins appear as “Not Licensed”,
  9. Click the cancel button at the bottom to shutdown QTPro.exe and then start it again.
  10. It will be licensed on the second start and you’ll be able to select them.
  11. When you are in trail period you will see 3,4 time the expiry date popup, it will disappear later.

QTP Complete Guide in Better Way

Now a days UNIX knowledge is mandatory for Testers. Many testing activities like installation testing, performance testing is dependent on operating system knowledge.  And also importantly when you are building a resume or going for an interview.

I found out some best sites for UNIX tutorial and FAQ’s, below the links will help you in understanding and do well in your interview. Unless you are a Unix tester in-depth knowledge is not necessary for testers who are in Manual & Automation Testing (QTP, Load Runner)

You are invited to share FAQ’s and Unix related material.
